I have altered the font and the back picture - is it any better?
I like the girl on the front as I think it is something that will help make people keep rather than discard the card

I like the girl and since you seem attached to her maybe try this.
Front: pic of girl with just your name :ken robinson
back: simple text in a nice layout with all of your contact info. No pic. To be honest, the pic you have now kind of makes me feel sad as if you are sending a message about starving children. And, it suddenly occurred to me, your front and back images have contradicting tones. Front: luxury, richness Back: lack therof. Just my pair of pennies.

I get your point on the contradictions however that is the photography I do - at home, model portfolios - overseas, Tribe and Hilltribes. I would like to be able to tout both with the same card.
Thanks Ken

i don't really like the back image (for the card... great image though). well, i'm not a huge fan of photos on business cards either, but that's just a personal preference.
I'm not sure the black text will stand out enough on the b&w background either...that would be my biggest concern really. In a business card, I want my contact info to be easily legible.
Good luck with your designing!

I agree with Tiffany (go figure!).
The whole card looks plain to me. If you "must" use a photo on the back, the font is too dark IMO. Also the card doesn't look 2 x 3.5 too me.

PS, where the text is set at now, it would probably risk some getting trimmed off at the printer...depending on who prints it i guess

I don't think there is such a thing as a bad business card. I think people get way too hung up on what their cards look like. Mine's a bog-standard template but I might change that for the next batch since people keep asking if I took the photo on the card.

yeah, maybe not, but a good one always sticks out. Example, we had a rep whose REAL name was Pink. His business card was the brightest neon pink card I've ever seen, but AS SOON as you saw it, you knew who it belonged to.

Another thing...why are you using that "bigpond.net.au" email address? Why not use something like "ken (at) kenrobertsphotography dot com? As it is, it looks kind of tacky to me.

Not to hijack but I remember someone warning you about that possibility. Oh, wait......that was me.
And, hi Mike! We're in agreement here again. :)

Thanks heaps for all the valuable responses (I will look into the email change also).
I think I need to keep the front picture for noticeability. I will reduce the visabilily of the photo on the rear so I can make better use of the space for contact details, appointments etc.
I am not sure of the font I did like the Adresack font but most bagged it - any suggestions?

I like the front image. but the two images together don't mesh IMO. I also like a one sided card. I know that was not help, sorry.

Yeh I know - the first attempt http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=423153 was bagged for not reflecting my range of services ? Thanks

I think there is a difference in not reflecting a range of services, and having two images which so completely contrast each other.
High Fashion Vs. sad and hungry children.
Also - I was going to put this in your other thread - I think you should spring for business registration. Its only like $120, and adds to your level of professionalism. Also much easier to get a .com.au website - and - as someone has already mentioned - you need to loose your bigpond email address. It is all about perceived professionalism. These things are much more important than business cards.
Cheers,
Naomi

Thanks for the recommendations - it is all so confusing for the first time.
What about the other card then?

Make your contact info stand out more.
Im more drawn into the picture rather than your info, which for a business card is a bad thing

I am personally not a fan of images on business cards at all. I really think that your business card should have your logo and your contact details. If you want to have images, get some post cards made up - and get different ones done for different areas of your business. You can get postcards made so cheaply its insane, and it is a better medium for images.
That said, if you are stuck on this image on your card, have it on the front, and a blank back with your details.
One thing to think of, if you are going to go with an image, is what is your biggest area of income, and who is your biggest clientelle.
If it is Fashion, then stick with this image. Is it corporate? or Weddings? What makes you the most money - or what would you LIKE to make you the most money?
Cheers,
Naomi

Thanks for the input Naomi,
Whilst in Australia most of my income will be from model portfolios and fashion. My travel efforts will be for charity purposes highlighting the strife of minority groups in SEA. These travel shots will be sold through exhibitions, and NGO's

I think you either need a no image card, or two different cards, as your work is so vastly different.

I like the images but I agree that you should either have a more generic photo that would cover all of your bases or have two separate cards. Nice layout though!

Tighten the gap between your first and last name if you notice you have two different spacings a big gap between your names and a small one between your last name and "photography" so tighten it up. :)

Thanks, I was thinking of putting the 'Photographer' at the top left hand side?
