Hello,
was just wondering the effect a gold diffuser would have attached to a 430EX or a 580EX when used for portraits?
Does it eccentuate the darker skin tones?

I would think it would be similar to using a CTO gel on your flash. When under tungsten lighting, use the gold diffuser to balance the light sources.

The gold diffusers "warm" the light. It won't go so far as to color correct the temperature to tungsten....unless you're referring to "gels" like come packaged with Nikon's SB-800 flashes. They WILL color correct for tungsten and fluorescent, but it's not exact. Get's you pretty close, though.
Check Lumiquest's website for examples of their pocket bouncer with gold diffusion panels.
