I would recommend Crumpler to anyone looking for a new bag - they dont look like camera bags (a positive for some and negative for others) are extremely well made and in my view much more comfortable harness than lowepro and others

iowahawkeye6,

Like everything else I think the answer depends on what your intended use is and where you will be using the camera/laptop bag.

I purchased the lowepro computrekker backpack in order to take the laptop and photo gear in one carry on bag for air travel. An added benefit is that I also use the backpack to carry my photo gear while hiking. I love the ease and weight distribution of the backpack for longer or more difficult terrain day hikes.

For a recent trip to Yellowstone, I also purchased a holster type case for shorter hikes where I only take one camera and one lens, one filter extra battery memory card and a lens pen.

However, I live in New Jersey and I would not think about using the camera backpack in New York City. IMHO it would be like carrying a neon 'MUG ME' sign. So I think the intended use and location are important to consider. All that being said the Computrekker has been a great addition to my gear.

When purchasing a bag I would also buy a little more bag (storage) than you currently need. I am always adding equipment and the bag that fits all of my gear today is too small next summer.

Good Luck,
Michael

You can also look at a Tenba DB 15C. I have the 17C and it is flipping huge! The 15C is brobably much more reasonable size.

Too anyone else looking for one of these bags, do not let the $129 price tag of the lowepro Computrekker AW scare you. Until you actually see one of these bags in person, the pictures on the internet do these NO JUSTICE. I though $129 was CRAZY for a backpack till I saw one. WOW. Go to your local camera store if they have one and look at one. The quality of how they are built is simply amazing.

I already have a back pack that holds my laptop but need one to hold ALL my camera gear too because I got sick and tired of putting it in the back pack and worring about it. You could probably drop this out of a second story window and everything inside would still be ok. If you do alot of hiking, it has two front straps that strap across your chest so any of you who do alot of hiking KNOWS this does help in the lower back area.

My wife and I plan on doing a Alaska to New York train trip next year through Canada and all we are taking is back packs and This is one that I am excited about having! Unless you are a photojunkie, you will never know it contains several thousand dollars of equipment!
