I need help with 20D purchase

OK here's the problem. I am currently using a D60 bought in Hong Kong a week before the announcement of the 10D :(

I am first on the list for the 20D in a photographic store in Nottingham, apparently delivery is expected around the 17th of this month, I guess at the list price of £1279. In November I am going to Hong Kong but knowing Canon's past problems with demand outstripping supply am I best to wait and try my luck in HK or bite the bullet and pay the premium.

Although the 20D is already being advertised at £1099 on the web I guess these will be a long time coming.

What was supply like for the 10D?

I don't know about the 10D but the UK supply of the 1D Mk II was diabolical. I ordered mine on the 9th Feb with one of the UK's bigest Canon dealers "Park Cameras" and I ended up sourcing it from B&H in the US in August. Canon UK are pants...

The 10D was introduced in March 2003 according to the Canon Museum website. I bought mine from stock at a large consumer electronics store in July. This might have been something of a fluke because they were still not readily available everywhere as recently as Christmas. Places like B&H generally seemed to have the least problem keeping them on hand.

The whole supply system from Canon seems to work in mysterious ways which we are not supposed to understand.

What was supply like for the 10D?
I bought my 10D on April 13th, 2003 from BestBuy; only a month after the introduction. April 15th '03 Post (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9837&highlight=)
Not sure how/why BB ended up with stock when the online camera shops didn't get them for weeks, months. As belmondo mentions; only Canon knows.
