I just got the 10d and I am having trouble getting sharp images. Should I change my sharpness setting?

There's a lot we need to know before we can offer an opinion. First, it would be helpful to know what lens you're using, what settings on the camera, etc..

Most of all, if you can post a copy of a picture along with the EXIF data, that would be most useful. Chances are, you don't need any more in-camera sharpening.

I agree with belmondo, need to see an original photo. Unless you are getting confused at how to use the 7 point focussing. Using the top right button on the back of the camera you can select what point you need the 10d to focus on. This only works in P,TV,AV,M and A-DEP modes. All other modes the camera selects what it thinks you want to focus on.

If you need some web space open a Yahoo account then upload a photo with their geocities file manager. Then post us your address, it`s easy even I did it.

Just about everyone is disappointed with their 10D when they first get it. I was no exception. I've had mine for about 8 months now and although at first my pictures were "blurry" and the colors were not what I expected I now take great pictures. Keep at it; you and the 10D will improve with practice. Remember practice costs nothing with a digicam.

Lots of threads on it, here is one that I started. My problem was making sure I was in the DOF plain.

Forrest64, do you use 10d on full auto or full manual or other? Just had a look at some of you pics great, but seem to be suffering from same as mine ie some whites are too white.

I apologise if this was intentional.

Also I agree I was dissapointed at first with 10d, bought mine in March this year. Dissapointed with the colors but now I either set parameters to saturate the photo a little in camera or I load photoshop when I get home.

Thanks. I purposely increase the contrast and saturation of many of my pics. I use auto, manual and sometimes aperture priority to get the depth of field I want.

Sorry, I should have given more info on my original post. I guess I was just a little embarrassed about the lens I am using with the 10d. I am using the Cannon EF 28-80mm 3.5-5.6

I know its not the best lens, but I got great images using it with my film Camera. I used to have the Cannon USM 28 -135 IS Lens, (which I loved) but it was stolen in Miami. I am planning on buying one ASAP, however I have several shoots to get through and just need help getting this focusing squared away. I will try to post an Image on line ASAP!

For now here is the settings for my 10d for the image I will be posting soon. Any input would be great! Thanks guys!

No tripod- using 1 studio light with soft box.

looks to me like the wood behind her head is in better focus than she is.....possibly a camera or lens focus adjustment is needed...notice that the left edge of the sofa is also relatively sharp and it is also in the focus plane(same as the wood).

I took your picture and it sharpened up nicely. I used Focalblade. It is a Photoshop plugin. You can get similar results using Unsharp Mask in Photoshop Elements or whatever photo software you are using.
