Trying yet again to post samples of my first attempt at talent headshots. Would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Shot with Canon 10D and EOS 28-135 f3.8 IS lens.

If you click on the tumbnails it shows a full size pic :)

But if you really want to give up, Iv been having great success with www.photobucket.com and of course all the top guys here have www.pbase.com accounts.

I can't comment on the photos though Im afraid, I lack the technical knowledge to know anything more than they look great.

#1:
I likew the light here. The girl looks lovely and aluring. The ring is not appealing. The forehead seems a bit pronounced and perhaps called for a slightly different shooting angle (maybe higher and to the left). The hair seems nice. The contrast seems very approproate. Well Done.

#2:

A bit too much artificial ligh. Hair seems a bit too glossy as does the neck.. Left eye seems a bit drooped. Right seems a bit far left. I like the location of the eyes better in #1. Swatch of loose hair in front of neck -- may or may not be a good thing. I am not sure. Nice image.

#3. NIce. I am not sure about the hand under chin pose. Too much "the movie star" maybe, plus it introduces arm fuss that seems to me to be unnecessary. The wrinkeled brow may be OK -- not as good #1 however. The contrast seems too low (low key?). A few blems on the face might warrant a touch up . Why not ? I always remove major blems. Checkered shirt may not be the most flattering. I see a more monotone color with a splayed out collar and maybe a sweater -- do guys still wear sweaters?!

#4
Not to my taste. This young lady comes across as a bit snobby or stand-offish in this image. Hair is nice-- altough I am not sure whether pros go for the odd loose end showing or not. Crop seems a bit high -- a bit more collar might be better . Light is flat and contrast needs a bit more snap, again I prefer the eyes in #1, NIce shot. Face loks a bit wide. How would you make that more flattering?

Howie,

Thanks so much for the detailed critique. I'm so new at this it seems like there's a million things to keep in mind and I think practice and this type of critique is how I'm going to get better faster.
