To be honest, i don't mind the building in this shot :)
The smaller wall to the right of the car helps to 'sell' it to your eye as part of the background. Plus the colour difference really makes the car 'pop' :)

Really nice shots :)
(plus everyone knows unpainted carbon fiber is cool ! :D)

The "secret" (if you can call it that!) is that it requires a foggy day.
And then 10 mins in Photoshop!

The image out of the camera was always going to be rubbish but I knew what I wanted it to be, and that it had potential.... :)

The first one with the Evo Drift car was done with the 18-55 kit lens (all of the pics were taken with this lens).
So do the shallow DOF limitations of the lens everything was in some sort of degree of focus (the background was soft and OOF but still distracting).

I did levles+s curve+edge sharpening.

I first selected the car and copied and pasted in a new layer.
For the shallow DOF blur I used the PS3 Lens blur filter and applied it to the background layer with these settings.:
-set to More Accurate
-shape=hexagon 6
-Radius 20
-Threshold 255 (this is the default).
-everything else I left on default.

As far as equipment it was my XTI+18-55 kit lens + 580EXII bouncing it using the bounce card it comes with.

I took these last year at our local hillclimb. I was still using my 75-300 EF III at the time and got very frustrated with the low keeper rate. This lens does not do autosports well.

Yeh thanks all of you. This was the first time I tried lighting a car with strobes. I just used 1 alienbee 800 strobe with a large softbox. Lens was ...15-30 3.5 sigma. any other questions?

YEAH, Dan and I flew out there for that shootout and it rained out, we were so bumbed out. Then we decided to just do a shoot. In the middle of the pouring rain. Someone had to have an umbrella over me the whole time. it was crazy. Thats awesome one of your buddies was there, I dont recall names very well, but I do remember them pushing the car around so i could take the pictures. :cool:
