I have been searching all the local stores for a nice business card holder and all I find is cheap crap looking shiny silver ones...where to people normally get their card holders from?

hmm I guess it depends on what you want. I was fine with cheap ones.. I have the style that you set on a counter and can stack cards on both sides of them, they are kind of a opaque plastic, and were less then $2 each.

I got mine from Office Depot, they also had black ones built the same way.

Staples carrys a lot of leather ones. They may be faux leather, can't remember, but they have a decent selection. They are kept with the day planners.

I should know, I work for Staples. :)

I will go check staples out tomorrow, see what they have...I was in there and looked around when shopping for some other stuff but didn't think to check near the day planners...

I just always put a few of mine in my wallet and carry them there. They are always with me.

In Britain there were some cheap looking folded purple plastic wallets that I had from Staples. They looked terrible but protected the cards nicely.

Here, I bought a silver one - looks like a cigarette case. Works well enough. There's a space for engraving but I don't see the point of that!

On the subject of wallets, I use a wallet from the ladies section of Target. I saw my wife's and though it looked so useful that I had to get one myself albeit not in a feminine colour. It has a plastic window for a driving licence and two zipped compartments - one for coins and one for cards. Now I don't need a separate card folder and coin purse.

I've actually received compliments on my "cheap crap looking silver shiny" case.

Here are a couple fancier and engraveable ones from things remembered (http://search.thingsremembered.com/search.aspx?keyword=business+card)

I was given a engraved silver one as a gift from a real estate client last year. It holds 25 or so cards and keeps them dry and unbent so I cant complain about it.

As far as wallets go. I have been using Dockers leather trifold wallets for years. My last one lasted 8 years and my current one is 2 years old and still looks new. At about $50 a pop you cant beat it lasting 8 years.

Sorry to go OT but if I would have treated my first dockers wallet better than I bet I would have gotten 12+ years out of it instead of 8. In high school and just after gradation, I worked for my grandfathers (now 51% mine) construction company. With all the dirt, saw dust, morter mix and other abuse it endured I am sure that its life was greatly shortened.

I HATE Trifolds! It makes the money all bent when you get it out.

Single fold, thin as possible with a money devider. 1's in the first compartment and 5's, 10's, 20's, 50's and 100's in the second. Friend (who never pays you back) asks for lunch money you open the first compartment wide and say "Hmmm, I only have three 1's." and they are never the wiser.

Drivers licence and bank card on left, AMEX and Visa on right.

Oh man here goes my OCD...

I've gone through 2 Kenneth Cole black leather ones in the past few years. It's supposed to be just a business card holder, but it has a clear sleeve where I keep my ID. It also holds a few credit cards and has now become my wallet.

I like it because its nice and thin and just what I need. ID, 20-50 business cards and a credit card.
