.. on a single person one morning in Manhattan. I may be too harsh - perhaps she was in a hurry to go out and all her matching clothes were in the hamper.

I really like all that dark space on the right with the streaks of light. I think it would have been interesting if she would have walked through one for you so that her face was lit up a bit. But in a way it may work better as it is. Becasue she appears very cold. And she is looking towards the warmth of the sunlight. Your photos always make me think. I like that.

I don't think she was in a hurry.. there are many others like that.. I've seen too many of these.. especially around East Broadway.. which is where you shot the picture :D

Did you get a signed model release form?
What? You didn't?
Perhaps the monies recovered from the pending lawsuit will allow her to upgrade her wardrobe.

very good capture Pio, I like the composition a lot too....she looks like it's been an allnighter with that cold 'beverage' in her hand.

Wow Josh, that's deep. Thanks for the analytical comment, it got me thinking too. This shot was taken contra luz, that is, against the light so unless she were facing the other way, her face would never be lit up. Unless I use fill in flash, in which case it would be to obtrusive to this style of photography. Those streaks of light are cool! They are reflections bouncing off the windows...

Yup, most in this area are.

Haha, you are right my friend, this was taken at East Broadway, just off the corner of Seward Park. Actually she was in a hurry, and seemed agitated as if late for something, and was looking around the place for someone perhaps she was supposed to meet. Dude, we gotta shoot together someday, seeing that you are familiar with my stomping grounds.

Hahaha, too funny. Maybe she'll get more money from starting a new trend ;)

I haven't touched my camera in quite awhile now.. I've been trying to look for a full time job now that I'm on break from school :(
But hopefully someday, I could learn a lot from you, your shots are always awesome

I have to wonder how you take these pictures of people, especially since you're using a 17-40L if I am correct. Do you position your camera before they are passing by or do you position it as you see the shot? And don't they usually give you a weird look? I can't seem to do people shots in NYC, even worse in crowded areas and Manhattan certainly is crowded.

Another good one. I like this a bit better than the day laborers pic. That one seems a bit too bright for my taste.
It looks like she's taking her time walking by and the streaks of light are cars/people/thoughts just passing her by.

I could be wrong, but I think he also has an M8, which this shot could have been taken with.

Weird looks? Yes, sometimes I do get that, but I just smile back and move on. I like wide angle lenses such as the 17-40 because it allows me to place the subject in the FOV without actually pointing the camera straight at the person. Sometimes when i see a good scene, I wait until a person just walks along. Most of the time though I shoot on the move, just walk for a couple of hours and shoot. There are times when I feel that I am in the 'zone' and I end up with a good number of keepers. Sometimes though I walk for a long time without ever extracting the camera from the bag if I really don't feel like taking a picture.
I often take pictures with my mind - when I see a scene, without a camera in hand, I take a mental 'picture' of it and imagine how it would look like when I am finished processing it. Man I just realized how weird I am.

Thanks V.I.! The lighting here and that of Day Laborers are practically opposites. This was taken contra luz (against the light) while the other's scene was bathed in harsh sunlight. I am glad you noticed the streaks of light - that was a lucky plus in the photograph.

I wish I have an M8 :) I am thinking of getting one but I don't like the sensor issues (and the price!). I do have an M3 and a IIIG though, btu I haven't shot film for quite sometime now.
Thanks for looking, all :)

Pio really nice image. I really like the reflections of light from windows on the pavement. That pattern (repeating shapes) and the subject placed on the white line just a really nice image. Your street stuff always is joy to look at.
Chandler.

LOL Pio! Maybe in the "real" world you're weird... but I suspect a good number of POTN members related to that statement.

I really like your work :) ! As usual I enjoy your PP, I would have preferred a tiny bit more color in this picture though. Nevertheless I think it's a great pic.

Thanks Lars! I appreciate your input, I see what you mean about color. You may be right, the lady's outfit did seem a bit wacky too, color-wise.
Lol Mark! So I caught a photo of the elusive Petkal :) Thanks dude for the comment.
