You have a MkI.. so can't you look at the camera to see what type it takes?

I seem to recal it was the standard 6 pin cable... but don't hold me to it.

The Mark I and Mark II use different cables. The Mark I uses p/n IFC-200D6. It uses a standard IEEE-1394 plug on both ends, unlike a standard Firewire system cable that has the square plug on one end.

It looks to be about a $60 item.

Good luck.

Yes i have it, but looking at the connection does tell me much. I'm not a firewire expert. ;-).

I did however find it in the accesories poster.

It is a standard 6 pin firewire cable, $35 at best buy...$8 on newegg.

And since i was buying the firewire i figured it was time to buy a 1gig sandisk Ultra II CF card

I suspect you're right. I do notice that the Canon cable has ballasts (?) or whatever those things are on the cable at each end. I suppose they're intended to suppress RF and probably don’t influence the function of the cable at all.

Tom.

Yes, those lumpy little things on the cables are RF suppression chokes. The main signals go through the cable quite nicely, but the super high frequency harmonics of the main signals get trapped in the choke. That keeps noise out of adjacent equipment.

I would have thought that the cable came with the camera.

Yeah me too

He forgot the manual and mailed that promptly. When he told me this i asked him about the chord. He said "Oh sorry, i lost that a while ago and replaced it with a mac chord". Ok...so where is that?

Oh well though, he did more for me then most people would so i'm not gonna complain too much about an $8 wire.

He?

Did I trip over a pronoun in search of an antecedent?

Explanation:

Replace 'he' with 'the seller', and all makes grammatic sense.

And ... calm down, all of you
There are enough locked threads around, for my taste.

Best regards,
Andy

Exactly, but you used "he" without saying what person you referred to. You knew it was the seller, but you didn't let the reader know that it was the seller.
