What do you use this lens for?

Mostly for things that are too far away to walk over to.

Eric T,
I believe its a combination of what Radtech1 & matthew h said.

Here on my lens page (http://johnbdigital.com/lenses/lens_collection.php) I have some photos taken with my Canon 75-300 f/4-5.6 III USM lens (http://johnbdigital.com/lenses/ef75_300_f4_5_6.php)

Thanks guys :D I just got it as an early x-mas gift from my better half. Just got back from the track and found out I really suck at panning lol

I suspect it's the lens more than your skills. Give her a nice thank-you kiss, then tell her the Sigma 70-300 APO is cheaper (but don't tell her that it's better - which it is).

Well I had about 3 or 4 IMO decent panning shots, the rest were crap...so I know it can do it I just have to learn how instead of the power of numbers and luck

I had that lens - a "gift" too. In retrospect, I think it was a practical joke. I really had to work hard to get decent images from it. It never produced exceptional images. I sold it along with its hood for $125. I felt like I took advantage of the person who bought it from me...
