I noticed that some of the larger format cameras (120 film size) now have digital snap on packs that allow the user to take digital pictures. Anyone know what the sensor size is in these packs? Are they 120 film format size?

You might take a look at www.phaseone.com. I'm not familiar with film sizes, though, so they just might make medium format.

The largest single shot digital backs that I am familiar with for medium format cameras are from Phase One with a 48.9x36.7mm sensor, and Leaf with a 48x36mm sensor. This gives nearly full frame coverage with a 6x4.5cm camera, such as the Mamiya 645afd or Hasselblad H1.

Be ready to take out small loan for one of these, they run in the $30,000+ range, camera not included.

This would not seem to be a Canon EOS digital camera. Isn't there a separate forum here for that?

Ditto, and they are called backs, "snap on pack" sounds so funny to me.

Robert, you are correct this isn't a Canon EOS related question. But it seems to me this forum is generally an open and friendly place, where a "slightly off topic" post from time to time is not the end of the world. Besides, Mark is just showing us that he trusts us more to answer his questions in a friendly manner than some other forums that are out there. We should be honored!

If this thread is too far off topic, I'm sure one of the moderators will move it to a more appropriate place.

I would suspect this topic is less 'off topic' in the EOS forum than it would be in any of the others that are hardware oriented. If somebody can suggest a better place for it, we'll consider it. At least we're talking about cameras with interchangeable lenses and designed such that the image is viewed through the lens instead of a viewfinder.
