I started the day in Gloucester to test the 400 Prime on birds in flight. The gulls weren't flying, so I eventually decided to hit Parker River once again.
I pulled over before the Salt Pannes because I saw an Great White Egret and a smaller bit of white behind the marsh grass. I ignored the Great White and stalked behind a large bush to get a better look at the small white patch I saw. It was a Snowy Egret, and I took a few pics and wished him from behind the grass.
He just dug in deeper, so I turned to the Great White, and he was doing a nice little dance in the very still waters.
Yes, I know, another "Standard Egret Pose" but the reflection and ripple are nice:

A car went by behind me, and the Great White bolted:

But this just got the Snowy's attention and he came out from behind the grass:

I was snapping away, and heard a weird honking commotion, and looked up to find 4 Mute Swans - 2 adult and 2 juvies - flying directly at me. They turned at the last second, and I snapped again. They were so close overhead that I missed the trailing adult:

I had now been at the refuge for 6 minutes, I had shot 27 pictures, and they yielded 6 or 7 keepers.
And to think that this isn't really busy yet. Another few weeks and this place will be thick with birds.
