In about 3 hours I will be off to my 8, and 5 year old cousins Christmas play at our church. It isn't a big sanctuary, so I will be near the front, I just would like so help on what my settings should be to reduce noise and blur.

The lights will all be off except for some studio lighting (those big lights they have at concerts, the church has 2 sets of 3 of those hanging up high on poles. I assume those will put out a good amount of light directly on the stage. I was thinking about using either my 50mm, 18-55mm, or 28-80mm depending on exactly where I will be sitting, I may even use my 70-300mm (At 70-80mm I can have the aperture open 1 stop wider then with my 28-80mm)

If i use my 50mm (most likely will) I am guessing my settings should be:
1/150 - 400 ISO - f/2.5-3 - Flash Fired(Hopefully I can avoid this, since I only have my on camera flash)

If I use either of my standard zooms my settings will be:
1/150 - 400/800 ISO - f/3.5-5.6 - Flash Fired (I doubt I will be able to avoid this with the standard zooms)

Any suggestions would really help.
I will post my shots later tonight, (after editing them)

If I were doing that kind of shoot, it would definitely be with the camera on a solid tripod. With solid support for the camera/lens, you can afford to use slower shutter speeds if the players aren't moving around a lot.

Don't try to guess what exposure settings you are going to run into. Use the camera's meter to determine what the possibilites are.

I ended up switching between my 50mm and 28-80mm...
I took 142 shots, and about 30 came out... Took me about an hour to salvage 20 of those 30.
I am pretty proud of the results, but they look like a point and shoot could have taken them, o'well I'm happy, and my cousin\aunt\uncle is\are happy.
