I have a friend who wants to get his car photo'd..... I shot a few test shots just to see what I was working with.
His car has something called Diamond ice in the paint.... it give it that "sparkly appearance" it also makes his car look two different colors. He also has very lite ghost flames that if the sun is out you can see... but if the clouds are out...
they are gone.
I am open for suggestions...
Here is one shot...

Try very large reflectors late in the afternoon on a clear day. Focus the reflector until the ghost flames appear and you got it. Good luck

My guess is late also, when the sun is low it should react with the pearl. Overhead light is always the worst time IMO.

Overhead light is always the worst time IMO. My experience, too. Crappy results with exotic paint on a great car: '68 Plymouth GTX 572 "Tennessee Thunder" (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=408237)
Late sun helps. Better, but with a pole & limited angles to shoot from:

If you can get the light at the right angle in the side:

And, sorry, but in the "Share" areas IMAGE POSTING RULES (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=74718) only allow 8 embedded images by the OP per thread. (Maximum 800 pixels on any side.), so I had to remove the image tags from the extra shots. Links to them are OK, though.
Some exceptions are "Show Me...", "Post your best...", etc.
