Trying to use Russell's rainbow in the gradient tool.(It's cold out ) Does anyone have a good way to take this gradient and make a nice curve out of it? This is my experiment by using filter -distort- polar coordinates and using the rectangular to polar setting and then altering the opacity of the gradient layer. I know there must be an easier and better way. I use PSE 5.

physically this rainbow isn't possible :) u need to find a better image for placing it, there are certain conditions in nature when rainbow occurs - not many people might now this actually, so forget my post :)

I choose this pic as a practice pic not for a real situation. I'm just interested in the how to's of making a rainbow.

With Photoshop CS2 I would use the liquify tool with a large brush size to push the line into a circular shape.

Use gadient tool set to radial fill . Set colours and transparency similar to screenshot of quick mockup in PS7. Draw gradient on new layer then crop, distort, overlay to your hearts content.

Good Tip George.
But I agree the sky doesnt look mean enough to have produced one for real.
