I took this shot about an hour ago with the rising sun. It was a dramatic scene, but I'm not sure if I entirely like what I have taken.

Any thoughts?

Anyone have a simple thumbs up or thumbs down response. I'd love some feedback. Here is another version taken around the same time.

1# Great shot !!!
the only thing that throws me off is the harshness of the white "matte" that you put arround the image. But the photo looks magnificant

2# I'm not too fond of the framing, it kinda leaves a bit to be desired outside the shot

Malok,

definitely keep 8)

I like the colours in both and especially the capture of the second one.

Best regards,
Andy

I like the panarama treatment for the second image. Works really well.

The first image is nice too, but I prefer the panorama.

I think I'm having the same reaction as you. I liked it initally.... then I decided that the tree was distracting... then I couldn't decide. On balance I think its a thumbs up.

Malok,

Keep the original version. It looks better with the tree firmly rooted in the ground instead of "floating" up from the frame.

Why is the sky between the mountain and the clouds a burned out white? It looks like the sun is rising from the left side of the picture judging by the shadows. So it probably isn't sun burnout. Maybe there was another layer of white clouds above the gray clouds. I'm just guessing since I don't see enough detail in the photo.

Great landscape photo. I would like to see more of the landscape to left and right (panoramic stitching or a wide angle lens).

Both are good with wide color range. The tree looks better in the first as has been ststed. If you are a PS person you might try to wipe the tree from the panoramic.

KEEP!

I love the way the sun is reflecting off of the mountians and has that strong golden tone. What a great shot!

Hi There,
Love the colours on the mountain in pic.1. IMO the mountain is the main subject and the tree seems to distract from this. Maybe the line of the mountains would look better without the tree breaking into it. Not sure about pic.2 as this just looks like a crop from pic.1 without the sharpness. I'd definitely keep pic.1.

How's this for a demotivational poster?

Erik,
Great pic. Hope you don't mind.

That's cute! I like the color you chose for "Futility". For those who are not aware what Rosh HaShanah is, it is the Jewish New Year. I can imagine that this is a difficult time to buy much of anything.

Thanks for sharing!

Malok,

I thought this picture would get a great laugh over in the main EOS forum where people are desperately trying to get 20Ds and other stuff for the weekend, and nearly every store over here on the east coast is closed until Sunday. I just got my order in under the wire yesterday morning. Do you mind if I post it over there, and leave your name on it of course and give you credit for the shot?

You are welcome to use it for this purpose, but I would suggest that you clone out the black line that was the bottom of the photo as it distracts from the overall look you are trying to achieve. You might want to change the Rosh HaShanah to something else or explain it as many people won't know what it is.

Enjoy!
