my bird in flight photos are getting better. im keeping my shutter speed up and I've switched to servo. just gotta keep practicing my panning motion.

I clicked!! Its a nice shot but could perhaps do with a bit of sharpening on the bird itself.

Was this done with your 1.4x TC?

yep, its with the 1.4x. i added a bit of sharpening in DPP but it started to look fake so this was as far as i could go. i sometimes wonder if the 1.4 is worth the little bit of length it adds. when i view pics at full size i don't see much difference but when i crop a bit the difference becomes noticeable.

It's a long shot for the 70-200mm even with the 1.4x. I have one and don't use it much for birds now that I have the 300mm....I really need the 500mm for birds, but can't do it right now....Keep posting your shots......steve

i was supposed to get a 400 5.6 but i spent so much money on other junk for Christmas its gonna have to wait. the 70-200 is all I've got so its gonna have to do for now. not to make excuses for the short lens but it is fun trying to get close enough for a decent shot. when you get a keeper at 200mm its quite an accomplishment.
