This Green Heron gave me a quick pose, then changed directions and stormed off down the rocky break with vertical head feathers to show his mood and attitude. Hope you folks like the shots.
C&C always welcome.

Ron

Thanks, Tony. I normally have problems getting close enough to Green Herons but was able to get a few shots of this guy before he left the scene. I was amused by the head feathers going vertical when he walked off in a huff.

Nice shots. The hair standing on end means he's afraid of something. :)

I've only encountered one of those from a distance -- got a couple of shots, but not nearly as good as these, because it was just too skitterish! You did good!

Thanks for commenting, Ben. Number 2 is my favorite of the two as well.

Thanks, canonloader. I'm sure many times the vertical head feathers indicates fear. In this case I think he was just pissed! ;-)

Thanks for your comments and help, Tony. As I said, most are too skitterish for me as well. This one was the exception

Thanks again to all for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.

I call that the Dr. Who look (seems just like David Tennant in that role).
Thanks for sharing - I miss the little guys.

These are really neat shots, I love the hairdo on the second...I have never seen or photographed this bird myself. The day I do I will most likely drop my camera or forget to take the shot....steve

Dr. Who would work very well. And you're welcome. Glad to share some shots of a bird that normally eludes me. Thanks for commenting, nwyman.

Thanks, Steve. I'm sure you'll have no problem getting the shot. The trick is to shoot first and save the laughs until you can see it on the screen. But I must admit, I do normally chuckle when I check out the hairdo on that shot.

the first one shows the normal pose very nice but the second really is that bit diffrent and the winner for me.

Thanks, Bill. That's the attitude I see in that second shot as well.
