I went to a camera club a couple of months back. While there, the model photo shoots told the exact settings to set your camera to for the pictures with of the models. Prior to going to the camera club, I shot most all of my photos with the P setting. I am using a Digital Rebel. The problem is that now, almost all of my photos, especially those outdoors are overexposed. Can someone tell me what I should reset this to in order to use the continue to take great everyday photos using this mode? Obviously I'm still a novice. I would like to learn more about shutter speed settings, etc. Can anyone point me to some free sites on the web that will explain this better for me? Thanks in advance.

in P mode, you can still change setting for EC, and don't reply on your LCD when view images, read histogram and adjust EC accordingly.

btw, EC is exposure compensation

What are your current settings that are giving you trouble?

For outdoors, try P mode, ISO = 200, no exposure compensation, white balance = AWB, average metering. These would be pretty normal settings and not likely to cause any problems. :)
