Be used off camera and triggered by the camera flash.

I think it should work in manual mode if you attach an optical slave sensor to the flash.
The flash on the camera would need to be in manual mode also.

I can confirm that it works in manual mode, but I have used it with the skyport wireless system so I am unsure of the ability to trigger from your camera flash.
