which light stands to choose??

ok.. i'm offically hooked on strobist and yet i don't even have my strobist lighting kit yet.

which light stands to choose? i need 2 (going to mount both my 580exII and 430ex on there).

should i go with the Impact Light Stand (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart&A=details&Q=&sku=359885&is=REG) - $19.95 or Bogen/Manfrotto Light Stand (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart&A=details&Q=&sku=512196&is=REG) - $54.90? i know.. pricewise.. impact is the better value... but... here's the reason why i'm asking though...


the bogen one looks like the legs will spread wider than the impact. i'll be getting the westcott 45" umbrellas to be mounted on there, so i certainly don't my light stand to tip over with my flash unit on there.

or can any confirm that the impact legs will spread just as wide to support a 45" umbrella?

any suggestions? many thanks~

I bought the 8' Impact light stands and I would think that you might find a 6" light stand somewhat limiting. By the way I have a pair of 60" umbrellas I have used with my Impact 8" with no problem. I assume that if I were to use them outside I would need a sandbag for stability though.

ah.. thank Doc. do you have a linky for the 8' impact? i found two of them on B&H. one has a 4 section while the other one does not.
