Considering the size of the scene and the low dynamic range why can't you get that kind of exposure without resorting to HDR?...

Agree with above- good shot but think the original is better - don't think dynamic range is normally too much of a problem in macro shots.

Yep, High Dynamic Range - I have used it a few times, although it really only applies to landscape shots in which you get a washed sky and all that.

I prefer the original, although the HDR Spider is still a cracking shot - really brings out it's colours. :)

Can do, although I prefer Photomatix.

I take three different exposures, and then combine them.

It's not a macro, but this is an example...

It is not really needed for macro though, and is more exclusive to Landscape. Still, give it a go, who knows! :)

Download it, but it will leave some watermarks on the output - still, nothing a careful hand with the clone tool won't fix, aye. :)

I love the colors in the HDR picture. They are nice. It does look a bit weird though. The original one looks good. I really like the symmetrical reflection in the eyes. I bet that mt-24 is marvelous.

I've been playing with photomatix for a few days, it's awesome. Plug your originals in it and see if its better.
