Both are IPS panels and are both about the same price at ~$850 give or take a few bucks depending on where you look. I think they both have the same vertical resolution of 1200px but the Apple has about ~300px more resolution (viewable area I guess I should say) horizontally. I think that's about 3" more width right? Even though monitors are measured diagonally?

So as far as the quality I think they have the same panel type so is there going to be much difference in color rendition? I will be using it on a new PC with Windows Vista if that makes any difference. These are about the only two monitors I can find in this size and price range that guarantee having an IPS panel without having to play that panel lottery BS that some other company seem to enjoy putting consumers through.

Any input or perhaps suggestions on yet a different monitor in the same size, price range, and panel type?

Thanks.

That's pretty much what I have been hearing. What's the deal with the refurbished units @ apple.com? They have a lower contrast ratio listed, are they older models?

Thanks

Another vote for the Apple. Best monitor choice I ever made.

should i say ditto for that ;)
Really after i used Apple cinema Display 20" in our photog club really really i pissed off my pants, thats why i spend about $4000 to get MBP as i fall in love with Mac, i will never see such a clarity and resolution as i saw with Apple Cinema Display, even i saw an iMac 24" on another club [or called Association] and still not as quality and HD as cinema, i can't wait to add Apple 30" cinema [i don't want 23" now].

To offer a different opinion I would take a better look at the NEC. The one you are considering is one of the very best 20" available!

I just got and love the NEC 2490WUXi. B&H delivered it for 1180.00 only a few bucks off your mark. Buy the best once.
