I'm not sure if this is the correct forum and I know how most "Noobz" are regarded on forums.. so try to deal with me .

Not a complete stranger to photography, I've been using canon point and shoots for a couple of years now, but with an upcoming study-abroad opportunity I decided it was time to finally invest in a "real" camera.
After having a nightmare with 1wayphoto.com and their antics - I thought I was going to be able to afford a Rebel XTi; however as with most internet scams the price was too good to be true, so low and behold i am the owner of a shiny new (with all accesories ) Canon Rebel XT.

I came across this forum last night and was surprised by the number of helpful information and threads, and am confident that the XT is still going to be worlds more of a camera then I will ever use.

I'll most likely spend the next few days reading through some sticky's, but wanted to introduce myself! (or kill time while my battery pack charges )

It's a nice camera you've got and a great way to start your adventure with a digital SLR. Be prepared to spend lots of money in the future though. This hobby is expensive (and fun!) :D

Welcome to the forum. The XT is a great camera, I had one for almost ten months and passed it down to my son and it's still in use today. Reading the stickies is a great way to get loads of info.

I'm glad you survived your 1wayphoto to he!!. They are not the worst out there, but there are not many worse. Might want to book mark this review site. It can help avoid nightmares like you lived through.

Welcome to POTN!

Sorry to hear about you getting scammed by 1WayPhoto, I'll be sure to avoid that place...geez, a brand new 40D body for only $649? Something ain't right...the legit places are selling that particular body for $1300!

I'm new to the DSLR world (Canon EOS XTi) and just found this forum the other day...yes, it's a very nice place to hang out with very helpful members and lots of information. I'm really glad I found this forum too.

Anyway, the XT is still a good camera to begin with and I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

I seem to always find expensive hobbies (cycling, german cars )
I just played around trying to get a good shot of my dog.. I'm amazed at the detail.
