they don't eat maggots then? Leave some out for the ground feeding birds as a treat.

Good shot Scott - you on to larger flies ?- doesn't look like a fruit fly.

i hatch aboout 20 house flys per week for the flower mantids..the fruit flys are for the nympths.i also have crickets but there for the normal mantids.they do eat maggots but flys are better..u gut load them with loads of pure honey.then i sprinkle with bee pollen to make my mantis super healthy,only do this for the flowermantids tho..
