I was wondering if anyone here has tried the AA batteries (http://www.sterlingtek.com/batterykits.html)from Sterlingtek. I use all my BP batteries from them for my 30D, I got about 10 of them.. haha.

So, now I'm thinking about getting AA batteries for my 580EXII & 430EX and also for my Wii to use.

Has anyone used them before? Do they last a long time like BP batteries they carry?

This topic seems to come up at least once a week. I am not trying to limit discussion but one way to get some information is to use the Forum's search function; just enter "AA batteries" or "batteries" and review the results :) .

I do not have the AA rechargeables from Sterlingtek. I have found that PowerEx are the way to go if you are looking for AAs. The current 2700 mAh version is the real deal. Using my MAHA MH-C9000 charger I am able to get them charged to the rated capacily. This is very unusal in my experience. Many rechargeables advertise capacities of 2600, 2700 and even higher but in reality never deliver those numbers. The PowerEx batteries seem to be conservatively rated and therefore 2700 mAh is acheiveable.

Have a look at the Thomas Distributing website (www.thomasdistributing.com) for lots of good information and good deals on battries and chargers.

I have stated on this Forum more than once that good quality rechargeables are essential but in my experience the key is the charger. If you want good performance from your batteries get a high quality charger such as the MAHA MH-C9000.

One other note; I use Sanyo Eneloops (AAs) to power my Wife's point & shoot. They are reliable and hold their charge a long time which is very handy. These batteries are known as low discharge rechargeables. PowerEx has just introduced their own version of this type of battery; PowerEx Imedions (rated at 2100 mAh) . A couple of months ago I purchased some for myself and friends. I haven't given mine a good work out but some friends have been using them and have found they really do hold a charge well. I suspect that they will be good as I have been very pleased with their other rechargeables. I will update the Forum as I use them

While pleased with the BP-511batteries from Sterlingtek, I was not happy with the rechargeable AA's or the service. They sent the wrong (cheaper)ones. They did not offer to pay postage to send them back and 2 out of 12 were defective and would not take a charge. I do much better with the energizers I get at sam's club. Just my personal experience, others may be different.

After reading MarkoPolo's post, I'll jump in and say how pleased I am with Thomas Distributing. Ordered a charger and batts from them, both of which had issues. Called customer service and was told to return, and they would reimburse me for shipping. Have dealt with them in the past, and after this response from them, will deal with them in the future.

I just don't like the fact you have to charge them once a week. I'm using Eneloop where you just recharge them once and don't worry about them.
