So, I am a VERY committed Canon user, no doubt about that. But I must be honest, I HATE my camera strap!!! I really really hate it! It's too wide for my comfort, it's stiff and itchy. I really need a new one, one that I WANT to use since I find myself so frequently NEEDING to use the one I hate. Sadly, I have had very little luck fining ones that seem to be much better. Any recommendations? ---Thanks

If you want something that you'll wear on your neck all the time I'd go with the Optech Pro or Optech Pro Loop strap.

If you want something that you'll wear on your shoulder all the time I'd go with the UPstrap.

Agree 100%. I have both and MUCH prefer the UPstrap.

I haven't tried the Upstrap because I find the Optech Pro Loop strap great. No need to change. Couple it with a Canon E-1 handstrap and you have a dynamite combination.

These threads are starting to sound like a broken record, but I still think UPStrap is the best thing since sliced bread. As far as being a high quality accessory, it is right up there with Gitzo tripods.

UPStrap. I was skeptical, now am convinced.

Optech loop strap with E1 handstrap is the working combination for me. Haven't tried the UPstrap yet, but might one day.

I am surprised no one has pointed you here, our very own POTN Optech shop

is the upstrap neckpiece comfortable around the neck?

Not as comfortable as the OpTech / POTN one is. It's specifically designed for on the shoulder use rather than around the neck.

The Upstrap is still my strap of choice though.

Yes, I just now got one of these (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=RetrieveSku&IC=NIAH4&Q=&O=) for my brick of a 1D. I even came into this forum to crow about it. I took my noose off the camera and will use this from now on. ;)

I'd be less concerned with the QR breaking and more concerned with your camera crashing to the ground if you use an OpTech strap over your shoulder. ;) Until I switched over to the UpStrap everytime I walked with the OpTech strap over my shoulder I got that seem feeling you get when leaning back on a chair and never being sure you aren't going to fall backwards.

I must admit that I was never happy with the OpTech on my shoulder. It was just too "bouncy" and I was forever hitching it back on. The UpStrap on the other hand just stays there no matter what.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the QR fittings on either make though. The UpStrap ones are larger and probably stronger, but I never thought that the OpTech ones were likely to break at all.

Is it possible to attach the UPstrap and the E-1 handstrap to a 400D/XTi? (With grip ofcourse)

I use a Canon lens strap (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/213218-REG/Canon_2890A002_Wide_Lens_Strap.html) as camera strap. Domke (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/16182-REG/Domke_741_6BK_1_Web_Camera_Strap.html) slim strap might be another option.

I never carry the camera aroud the neck: Always on the shoulder.

I have both the Upstrap and the Op/Tech (POTN) strap. I find, for the way I use it, the Upstrap to be too much of a good thing.

I also only use it on the shoulder(left), not around the neck. Actually, I have both ends of the strap connected to one swivel connector, snapped to a split ring on the left camera lug. The camera, with long or short lens, with flash on bracket...whatever combo...."falls" more naturally to my side, out of the way, than if the straps are connected to each lug.

The Upstrap is a bit more "secure" when hanging from the shoulder. There is never a feeling of impending slippage. The problem comes when I want to swing the camera up to my eye to take a shot. The grip of the strap keeps it from easily getting the camera up there...keeps catching. Same thing when placing the camera back into the hanging position.

The Op/Tech is not *quite* as secure a feel, though I have never had it slip. Frankly, most of the time I have my left hand down around the camera to avoid any swinging or ward of any walls or people in crowds. The Op/Tech is much easier to get into and return from shooting position.

Also, with a 70-200 2.8, flash and bracket, the Op/tech provides a lot more "strain" relief that the Upstrap,,,,which really has none (no more than the Canon strap).

When I carry my camera, I always carry it across my body so the strap is resting where my neck meets the top of my shoulder and the camera lays on the opposite side of my body. This gives me both comfort and the ability to keep my hand on the camera to avoid swinging (and hopefully catch it should the strap fail).

I frequently do this as well... but with the strap my XTi came with! And I HATE it, but I hate it around my neck too. I am thinking (after all the advice here) about trying the UPstrap. I did finally go buy some fabric and put years of sewing to use to create a cover so that at least its not so itchy. Thank you all so much
