How many shots do they last. It didn't seem like I've been shooting a lot today, but when I came back home they were almost empty. :?

2200 mAh and I did about 100-150 exposures. It's a vivitar 285, rated at around 42 meters.

Is this normal battery life?

Sounds about right. I use 550ex's and Sanyo 2300 mAh and they last about 100 - 120 full power cycles. Another thing about these batteries (Ni -Mh) is they begin to discharge as soon as they are taken off the charger.
