just saw this and you know it kind of made me ill then at the same time I feel blessed that I am part of a community that is not trying to continue to make the almighty dollar on their members

Nikonian: they are a business... a non-profit one at that, that takes the money the members pay to use the site and pours it back into the site... so in reality Nikonian is not making money off of their members in the sense of padding their pockets... it's a matter of keeping the site up and allowing for their paying members to have some benefits within the site.

I, and many others on this site pay money to POTN... we donate to help keep it up and running. If there ever comes a day and the donations aren't covering the site cost, and the owner turns this place into a business, many of us will gladly buy a membership.
