Hi,
i just got a Power Shot A540 for christms and i was loading the solution disk that comes with it onto my computer. it loaded fine but whenever i trie to open it, it freezes and i have to do ctrl+alt+del to close it. i have tried many times uninstalling and reinstalling but it will not work. i talked to canon tech support but they did nothing to help. any ideas? please?

i have a windows mel.
the disk has the specs. on it and my computer has them all

I think your problem is attempting to use Windows ME, rather than Windows XP...

Older versions of Windows did not have native USB port support and some of the drivers are USB drivers.

why would that be the case if it worked fine with windows 98?

WinME was a poorly-executed attempt to redo the Win9x internals and achieve a new, more consistent (they thought) driver interface. It failed. The easiest upgrade to Win ME is Win98.

No, move up to a reasonable operating system, Windows XP
