Hi all

I've bought a Sony Vaio laptop which runs Windows 2000 so I can view my photos away from home. As I have lost the canon CD (well I put it somewhere 'safe' a few weeks ago :o ) I've instead downloaded the TWAIN driver v 5.1.0 from canon's website for the 10D.

It installs fine. However when I connect the camera, nothing happens.

In the Device manager the camera is present as EOS10D under 'Imaging', and it's also in 'scanners and cameras' under control panel. If I try to access it with the TWAIN driver (say through windows imaging or paintshop pro) it tries to connect and says "Cannot detect camera. Check connection to camera, then retry" :(

please help!

Rusty

It sounds like you are still using the original release of W2K. This was a problem but was remedied about SP#3 I think. You need to go online to Windows Update and install the latest Service Pack, #4. This will fix your problems and also allow you to select which program to use when the camera is connected. If you have more than one program registered as a Camera Event such as Downloader, Remote Capture, etc. a stress box will pop up when the camera is detected and alow you to choose the appropriate program to use. I run nothing but Windows 2000 on all my PCs and laptops and it performs flawlessly. Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the reply... I have SP4 installed and have the selection for what to do when the camera is detected.

However the camera doesn't seem to connect properly as I never get the choice when I connect it, nor can TWAIN see it, even though it appears in device manager

What's PTP mode? Can I use that?

thanks
