I have been toying with the idea of selling the 10D. but given what i can get for a used camera (and 20D being released), should I just keep it? I now take most action pictures with 1D Mk II.....

Personally, if I get the 20D I'll keep the rebel because I hate to change lenses. So the 20D might have the 100-400 while the rebel will have the 70-200 (or vis versa).

I apologize for not being clear. Since I got the 1DMkII, the 10D seems to be redundant..... but given the little I can get for the camera, should I keep it or take the $ for something else?

I understand the dilemma. I paid an arm and a leg for my 10D and am thinking about the 1D MKII (don't tell my wife, for God's sake). I'd keep my 10 D for backup in case something might go wrong with the Varsity team, as it were... Especially because you ain't going to get much for the 10D, right?

If you have a MKII then no, there is no point, just buy another lens.
Now if it were a rebel maybe, but the 10D is to close of a camera to upgrade, especially when you have superior peice of equipment on top.

That is what I thought as well.... but just hard to let go of the beloved... BTW, I will be taking the Mk II to the F1 in Shanghai!! I can't afford super long distance lens; so I am going with the 70-200 w/ 2X...

I would say 1.4 because the 2x deteriorates quality, and if I stand corrected, you wont have autofocus. If you want to upgrade to a good backup later on, find a used 1D MKI.
Cheers.

A 70-200 f/2.8 + 2xTC , (effective f/5.6) will still autofocus on a 10D and 300D. The 1 Series can go to f/8.

If you do any professional work for clients at all, a good backup camera is the best insurance.

I have kept one. It is still a great caemra. I only went for one 20D and am keeping one 10D. The 20D is good but not that much better to me in image quality for my shooting style.

i just ditched my 300d. my 10d is now my backup, and i am now the proud owner of a 1dmk2!!!! :)
honestly i didn't see that much improvement in the 20d over the 10d to warrant spending the money. we've been out of them in oz for months but i'm currently on a trip to the us and had a chance to play with both for a few hours. i couldn't see any benefit in changing out a 10d for 20d *as a backup/second body*
now maybe a used 1d mk1...... :?

I think I am keeping the 10D... Even though it could save me $ for a proper prime lens by selling it....

Lots of different opinions but I have kept my 10D now I have added a MkII for a number of reasons:
1. There are times when the 1.6 crop is an advantage over the 1.3 of the MkII.
2. The 10D is more portable if I want a lightish rig.
3. The 10D makes a damn good backup for the MkII and at times I use two bodies with two lenses (cant quite afford or justify 2 MkII's).
4. I couldnt quite bring myself to part with it for what it is worth on eBay
5. My wife can hardly pick up the MkII never mind take photos with it.
