Folks,

Is there a different in performance between the alloy vs brass rim of B+W filter? I assume both are the real thing.

The B&W filters are good, difference between the Aluminum and brass is that the brass has a self lubricating quality that makes it easy to remove from metal lens filter/hood threads.

Alu rings will seize up one day. Brass won't.

If they are genuine, then the Schott glass used in the filters are the same. Schott glass is high quality and both the brass and alloy should give you excellent IQ. In the past, brass had less tendency to bind than aluminum. However, these days this may not be a problem because of the materials used in newer lenses. In my 30+ years experience, I've never had an aluminum ring bind on any of my lenses.
