View Full Version : Does 20D have custom settings banks?

I couldn't find this in the 20D manual.

My G3 (!) allows me to save (two) sets (memory banks?) of virtually every camera setting - I select one of these, and the camera presets nearly everything to the way it was when the set was saved, even including those settings that had been made manually at the time. Great for saving *my* set up for "Hyperfocal photgraphy", "Night photography", etc

Can this be done with the 20D? With so much that can be tweaked, this would seem quite valuable...

No.. the Pro 1 has this to.. this has stymied me since I got the 10D..

Even the $4,500.00 MkII limits what settings can be saved in a personal funtion "bank" as you call it.. some settings (such as ISO or metering mode) can not be recorded in a personal setting.

Also.. swithching them is very complex in the MkII.. on the Pro-1 you merely tunr a dial.

I'd love to see this in an SLR...

Weird - Canon obviously consider this a feature mainly only for P+S cameras. Shame really. I think replacing most of the consumer programmed presets in the 'Image Zone' on a 20D with the same number of user defined custom presets would be a great value added feature.

Canon could even preset them (after a factory reset of the camera), and allow the user to tweak them after.

It is a shame indeed; I usually find myself in a situation where I am swapping between two sets of shooting settings, and it would be very useful to have both stored for easy recall.
