Hi

I've been lurking for probably 2 years now. Use the D30 still, spent my money on glass the last year, photography is just a hobby for me. I got a ton of tips and do's and dont's from you guys already.

I've been asked to shoot at a serious party, got the 24-70 2.8L for the occasion (nice excuse :)). It just arrived today, party is Saturday. I don't want to be too obnoxious with the big camera and all, and I wonder whether I need to worry about the hood shooting inside. I am not sure about lighting, but I expect to use my flash mostly. Not a lot of time between now and then to go play.

What kind of flash are you talking about?

I have the 550EX, I read on the forum here that with the internal flash you get a shadow of the lens in the picture, I got that with my wide angle lens too.

just use the 550 ex flash and no hood....use program to keep it simple..If you don't have a stroboframe grip, shoot them all horizontal and crop them on photoshop....use high quality jpeg or RAW.
