Was that an eBay buy form overseas? I see there's a guy on eBay that sells them all the time from Korea or somewhere... what a cool lens. I WILL have one some day.

Let the record show.. this is the FIRST and ONLY time I have posted images of "gear"
I suppose that being the case I should have taken the time to do something a little better
Anyway.. yes.. there is a Ballet in October.. shortly after our trip to Cape May.
First I was shocked that it was not as large as I thought. (photos just make it look like a huge "L" telephoto... I mean I new it would be smaller than a 500mm..)
Then.. I was shocked out how FREAKEN HEAVY it is!
I don't think I can hand hold this at all...
Well,. we shall see how things go.. monopod or not. :)

I will certainly give it a workout this weekend..
Can't wait to try it out! But shooting stuff hanging on the wall just doesn't produce anything worth looking at.

I hear in Av at 1.8 the thing makes images look like they're absolutely 3D. I'm excited to see some images too. I'm guessing the DOF must be razor thin at that point if used in any lit conditions at 1.8?
We'll wait patiently!

Either CDS found a train set in the basement, or, he's actually a pseudonym for another user who owns at least one (and sometimes two) of everything..
Has anyone ever seen a picture of CDS and Belmondo in the same frame???? ah HA! I didn't think so!

Please forgive my ignorance, as I can't find this lens on the Canon site...but why is this such an incredible lens/how much does it cost/is it out of production/what will it primarily be used for?
Thx!

This lens has been discontinued... for some reason. It seems to be very popular. Very difficult to find.
CDS, how long did it take you to find a 200mm 1.8?

Two years because I was looking for a "bargain",...
...never found one so I finally caved and paid "the going rate" ... too bad.. the price has only gone up!
