After looking for a better tripod than what came with my 400D, i thought this would do the trick.
Has all the features i want.
Then i read up on it.
Oh dear, top heavy, unstable with DSLR & anything over 20mm lens, no good for me.
I'm looking for something that will extend to a similar size ( 5 foot-ish), have quick release, be able to go low & be fairly light & compact.
Or am i asking too much for £40?
Thanks.

I think the 785B is a great tripod. It's fairly lightweight and compact..and pretty sturdy for my XTi + 28-135IS

Buy right or buy twice...go for the 190XPROB + a nice ballhead like the 488RC2.

I have a 785B, not so bueno seeing that it failed under a 350D + 70-200mm 2.8L with its sissy quick release plate.

Thanks for the advice, the 190 + head is a bit more than i can afford.
modemanual - how did it fail?

I would keep saving then...more often than not, the ole' "you get what you pay for" mantra holds true in photo gear.
