This is not a great shot but there is a story behind this and at least I finally got a Grey Fantail and a shot of the only Kingfisher we have in southern Victoria,( The Sacred Kingfisher)

Went out yesterday and nearly collapsed from heat stroke.

I started out at 8am at a state forest area and got busy chasing birds to shoot whe I realised it was 12.30pm with the temperature at nearly 32C and I was 5km from the car and down to my last 250ml of water.

Anyway I made it back and drank nearly 5 X 600ml of cold water and then jumped into the river for a cool soak.

Here they are:
#1 Grey Fantail (Rhipidura fuliginosa)

The lighting could have been better, It was in the shade and facing the harsh sun. Using 1DmkIIn with the Bigma at 500mm

#2 Sacred Kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus)

You can see how hot it was, The bird was panting.

#3 Same Kingfisher

After doing some quick mental conversions (not so quick really) is see it was.. damn hot (90 F) Very far from the car (3 to 4 miles) and just a little swill of water (didn't do too much conversion on that one). I wouldn't mind the 90 deg. F myself right now. Be careful out there. Looks like it was worth the danger to get these captures. Nice work Lawrie.
