View Full Version : Software for reviewing/culling on a Mac?

I'm in the process of considering a move from my Windows laptop over to a Mac Powerbook. After a busy day snapping away I use a very useful little program called 'Pixort' to review (& delete) the days takings. Pixort only runs on Windows, can anybody recommend any similar software that is Mac based? I'm also going to purchase 'iView MediaPro' to catalogue my collection, so I'm not sure if that offers a similar function to Pixort?
Thanks for any advice!

It was hard to tell from Pixort's site exactly what the features of the software are and how it works, so a comparison is difficult. However, if all you are going to do is view and delete, iView Media Pro can do that for you (and more of course). I actually paid for and use iView Media Pro -- this is not a "I heard it does this" type of post.
iView will delete the file right off your drive for you or just delete the catalogued thumb. Or you can right-click (control-click) a thumb and open the file in an application of your choice. iView also shows you your EXIF info -- which a professional workflow application for Mac did not (I spent a half hour googling for the name of the program because I trashed the demo since it didn't fit my needs, but couldn't find it, sorry).

Paul,
I've been looking at a number of apps and iView Media Pro seems to be the one I keep coming back to.
So far I've looked at:
iView Media Pro
Photo Mechanic
Fotostation Classic
PhotoFirst
Viewit (doesn't support RAW)
I had high hopes for Fotostation but it seems as buggy as all buggery. Photofirst looks pretty good but waiting to see what the next release is like.
The Canon software is just too slooow and I doubt they will overhaul it anytime soon.
