For sure!!!

First impressions:

It is better in black!!! :-p

It is not a huge difference compared to the Rebel (in terms of the weight and size).

It is FAST!!! It turns on instantly.........and when I say instantly, I MEAN INSTANTLY!!! faster than you can blink!!! (this is very good for me!!)

With my 70-200 f2.8 and 50 f1.4 (the only two lenses I've tried focusing it with), the AF is blazing fast........and oh soooo accurate. I can tell right away!!! (this is compared to the Rebel).

ISO 1600............oh, if you can see the full size images, it is CLEAN!!! and when I say clean, I MEAN CLEAN!!! WOOHOOO!!!

The mini-joystick.........well its a joy to use..........I am already used to it!!! It's so intuitive...........setting your focus point is instantaneous!!! You rock, and you're there!!!

THANKS CANON!!!

About the only thing that needs getting used to is the shutter sound. It's loud.......and so not like the Rebel..........I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

OH........and the viewfinder...........much better and crisper than the Rebel.

And with a top AV speed of 1/8000 (did I hear 1.8 in daylight??), selectable AF mode and longer battery life..........what more can I ask for??!!!

THIS CAMERA ROCKS!!!

Thanks Canon!!!

Thanks for the post.
Don't you just LOVE that new camera smell?!

Btw, I'm a little worried about the loud mirror slap on the 20D. I always thought the 300D's mirror slap was loud, and may annoy people in certain situations. And the 20D seems to be MUCH louder? Although, one reviewer has said that the sound is similar to a 1 series camera.

the 300d was my first experience with an d-slr, then i added the elan 7n for 35mm work inc lass...talk about a difference in sound. The 7n is silent...but I got my hands on a 1 series and some different 35mm slr's as well as being around photography students all day in class...I doubt its much to worry about. Just means more people will notice you...hehe...of course I wish it was as quiet as my 7n, but it shouldnt be an issue...

hopefull ill have a 20d in a few weeks

thats awesome about the camera though...you got me all PUMPED!

Yes, the 1 series film SLR is noisy. They have a loud mirror slap + sound of rolling film.

............you'll get yours soon enough.............everybody has it, I don't think there will be any wait at all. Canon made sure they have enough in production for this one.

Yes......love that smell........and opening it up for the first time is heaven.

And as I said, I am not so sure about the shutter sound of this thing. It is loud...........:-( To be honest, I kinda prefer the sound of the Rebel.   I did some side by side comparison, and the Rebel sound more smooth...........maybe its something that I'll get used to.

photovillage!!! I think they have a website, www.photovillage.com. This is my first experience with this store. I went to pick it up in person as they are probably one of the few camera stores open in NY. ANd they are amazing!!! I think a bit better than 17th street photo. Thier showroom is BEAUTIFUL!!! They have VERY HIGH END cameras!!! very expensive. They even gave me a Canon shopping bag and some Canon goodies!!! It was a wonderful shopping experience, highly recommended.

.......you'll be even more pumped when you actually have it in your hands!!! IF you're coming from the Rebel, you will feel liberated from all the constrictions!!!

I totally agree! Did you pick up the grip as well? I can't find the grip anywhere for the 20D :(

No grip for me...........I am not a grip fan...........even my Rebel doesn't have a grip. I do a lot of hiking so the lighter the load, the better.
