Can anyone tell me why my D30 always shows -2 stops constantly in P mode but when I go to fully manual mode and input the same settings the exposure is correct ?

Are you sure you don't have exposure compensation dialed in by error? Check the little bar at the bottom of the top LCD and make sure the index is not at -2. It happened to me a few time (from accidentally turning the back rolling button). Another way to check is go to menu, AEB and see if the center index is at zero rather than -2.

Its normal problem for D30. If you go read some really old posting, lots of peopel have this same problem.
I send my camera back to Canon, their tech checked it and claim it was good according to specs.
For some lens, I have to always set it to +2/3, just one lens I had always set to +1/3.

So true about the lenses. My 28-135 IS needs +2/3 in all modes while my 28-70 could easily use -2/3 as it seems to be a "brighter" lens. The 50mm f/1.4 and 70-200 f/4 need little or no compensation.
I am so used to doing this by now I don't give it a second thought. Just a fine tuning adjustment I guess.

Constant underexposure of 2 stops signifies a problem with the camera, or a wrong setting! (It's very easy to set the exposure compensation and forget it!... Not that *I* have ever done that... :))
