Hi all

I was thinking of purchasing a photo printer, I basically want to do 4x6's 5x7 and 8x10's. I work all digital and have seen some printers that print onto CD's also. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!! What brand? Any particular model?

Picked up the Canon i9900 recently. Very happy with it. Prints up 13x19 so it might be more then you were looking for but you can grow into it and it prints absolutley spectacular pictures.

Have just got a i9950 here - same as the i9900 but does CD's as well (or more accurately comes with CD tray...)
looks pretty good so far

I bought the i960. Images as good as the i9900 but only prints to 8.5x11. I couldn't justify the extra $300.00 cdn to get the larger print the i9900 offers.

I also own the i960 and am more than happy with the results, It also seems to work well with all the photo papers I have tried.

All the photo papers? Hmmm. I've tries Kodak picture paper and it didn't accept the black very well. Almost like it wouldn't soak into the paper.

I use the HP 7660. Works great for 8x10 and you can get a special photo B&W ink cartridge.

Has a hopper for 4x6 paper. But I am not happy with the borders for the 4x6's.

For my 4x6's I use a Canon CP200 4x6 dye submination printer I got cheap at officemax. Paper paks are not cheap. But I get them at Amazon.com for $.27 a print. The prints are fantastic, and it works seamlessly with the Canon photo software.

Well I primarely use Canon photo paper plus for my 4x6 but I also use Kodak high gloss, kodak soft gloss, kodak satin with no problem, at least
I didn't notice any with the black. Also have used legacy papers gloss and canvas, with the same results, this both with canon inks and a generic ink, ( inkjet warehouse http://www.inkjetwarehouse.com/inkjet.storefront/ ) I will say I use those mostly for the photo cyan and photo magenta but have at one time or another used all of them with no bad effect.

I'll eat the cost of using brand name and stick to all Canon. My images are mostly for clients and not for personal use so I'm not going to take any chances.

Don't blame you there one bit, the only reason I use the inkjet warehouse inks is that the have a store front about 5 miles from my house and a lot of the other stores don't always have the photo inks in stock, Don't ask me why. so it's more a matter of convience for my and like I said I've never had a problem.
