Tried this tutorial (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=160897), linked from the Image Posting FAQ in my sig?

I think that OP is wanting to insert inline images into his posts and it looks like the tutorial is just for attached images (I admit scanning over it quickly, so I may have missed it).

Anyway, here is some PBase specific help on inserting inline images into a post. The first figure below shows one of my PBase gallery pages and I want to insert the image on the page into a post on POTN. Referring to the first figure below, the URL in the address box (circled in red) can be used to create the URL for the image.
Start with the web page URL, (http://www.pbase.com/image/89163816 in this case).
Depending on the desired image size, append one of the following suffixes onto the image: /small.jpg, /medium.jpg, or /large.jpg. /original.jpg is normally too large to fit within POTN posting rules.
This would result in something like the following: http://www.pbase.com/image/89163816/large.jpg. Go ahead and paste that in your browser and see what you get. It should be the Yosemite Valley photo.Alternately, you can get the url of the image by selecting "edit image" as shown in the first figure and a page that looks like the second figure will appear. On the right side of the window is a direct linking URL (shown circled in red) that looks like the following: http://www.pbase.com/bill_boehme/image/89163816/medium.jpg. It will also link to the same image -- I don't know if there is an advantage of using one link over the other, but they both do the same thing.

Next, inside of your post on POTN, you need to insert a "IMG" tag which begins with "url"[/COLOR]] and ends with -- note the "/" difference! Therefore, the code would look like
or
.
