i have two 512 sandisk ultra cf cards. they are both working very well. i filled the first one all the way to the end. i used pcmcia adapter to upload the images to the laptop. there was no images found. but the card was full. i think after the last shot d60 wrote over the file/dir info of the cf card. tried reading the card in the d60 i only got cf card full message and no preview.

it did not transfer files using the usb cable either. so finally i used a file recovery program to extract the files from the cf card. the prog. found the begin/end of each file and constructed them back on the hard drive.

i had a 100% recovery :)
yeh more than 200 pics including all the formals from a wedding... that was close....

although it may not happen everytime
here is what we learned:
DO NOT FILLUP YOUR CF CARD

would i stop using the d60:
NO WAY - i love my d60 - it rocks

Hello

Just got my D60 today, also have a D30.

I have notice that the larger buffer in the D60, if I take a serie, takes a very long time to save.

Did You turn power off and waited to the complete saving of the buffer?

The camera saves the buffer even if You turn the camera off.

its possible the file system on the cf got corrupted in middle of an operation. it was the last shot and no space to write it. i could preview images right before that.

Something else to consider is make sure you format the card with the camera you are going to use it in. I have found that if I format all my cards with one camera and use it in another I can’t read the files. Even to the point of format with one 1D and shoot in another.

All cameras used are Canon, combination of 1D, D30 and D60's when with a group of photographers I shoot with at certain events on a regular basis and CF cards borrowed between us.
