Dual monitors and video cards?

Im thinking about picking up a second Dell 20" Ultrasharp 2007FP and running them side by side. My current video card is a 256mb ATI Radeon X600SE. Its got one DVI out that Im using now and a VGA out that I could plug the second monitor into. Would this cause any kind of issues, would the image quality using the VGA be different than the monitor using the DVI port?

I would check ATI webpage first, They may have some feedback as this situation is more critical for phtographers than most.
For me I have several windows open or for monitoring an output with video as it renders. It is not so critical for me yet. I dont have a hi-dollar shooter yet so it is not an issue. I would like to hear their feedback as my other puter is running an ATI card. Their are some SUPER driver packages out for ATI as well. I found some great tweaks, settings and clocking, (mostly for gaming, but it gave me the flexibility to set the card up, and define output settings or at least know exactly what they were.

I have an ATI video board (I forgot which model, though) in my PC and the board has a DVI and a VGA port with a monitor plugged into each port. I have the 2nd monitor set up to extend the desktop and they both work fine. The VGA image quality is not as good as the DVI image but it's really hard to tell unless you look very closely and both monitors are the same or of equal quality.

Both monitors would be the same size resolution and model.

I have to DVI imports but both of my monitors are VGA so I'm using the adapter that came with my video card.
You may have some issues with correcting the colours between the two monitors. I have two identical LG monitors and I have yet to be able to get the colours to match.

It really won't matter since the 2nd monitor is going to be connected to the VGA port on the video card anyway. Get whichever one is cheaper.

I have been using dual monitors for many years (got hooked on them when I was in IT). The only problem I have had so far is that some calibration tools only support one monitor. I use the Syper2Pro because it does support duals. the other optionis to use one for your photos and then use the other for tools (in photoshop)

im running two 19's right now, but im considering just switching to a single 30 inch.

as for IQ between DVI and VGA, its hard to discern between the two, but like others h ave mentioned if you look closely, the DVI does have a slighter edge to it than the VGA.
