I shot this image last summer while sailing up the Willamette River. Here is a blurb about the sub on the OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) website:
OMSI is the home of the U.S. Navy's last non-nuclear, fast attack submarine, the U.S.S. Blueback (SS 581). After 31 years of service in the U.S. Navy throughout the Pacific Ocean, and appearing in the movie The Hunt for Red October, the Blueback is now on permanent display at OMSI. The Blueback is a Barbel class submarine, the first battle-ready class of subs to use the tear drop hull design.

wow thats a sweet shot! love to see submarine pics... man that is a pretty sleek silhouette design for being built in the 60's (or 70's?) - well, now the US has no diesel/electric boats... hmm... in San Diego i saw a Swedish sub that was visiting and was helping the US subs practice tracking non-nuclear subs cause they were so geared up for all those years for tracking the Soviet nuclear subs.
One of these days i will get a clean shot of the Russian KILO that is docked in Sevastopol harbor... just hasn't happened yet...

Cool picture. I think I've only been on one diesel sub. I've been on a Los Angeles class a few times though.

Nice, but IMAGE POSTING RULES (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=74718) only allow pics 800 pixels or smaller. You can always just post a link to them, though.

Nice, but IMAGE POSTING RULES only allow pics 800 pixels or smaller. Rule change; it's now 1024 X 1024.

Thanks all for the compliments. I have seen the sub a million time living here in Portland but I have never once been on the tour. Something I clearly need to do some day!!
