Yes it looks close, but it is a 100% crop and it has noise and the fish in his talons is OOF! Hey, I tried!

Well Don, you got your bird. More than I can say. It's been too warm here and there is too much open water in the river. :)

Nice pose on this one.

But last year, I recall that you went well into March with them feeding in small openings downtown?

This River is about 100 yards wide and it was almost impossible to catch them fishing where you could get a frame filling bird. And with water moving as fast as it does here with the dam opening and closing, I bet it never decreases in size.

But it sure is fun!

Great catch Don, would a smaller crop work better? Sometimes you dont have to fill the frame.Eagles look impressive either way;).

I have a couple on my Flickr site where I kept the crop smaller with "room" for the bird to "move into the frame", but the comments were generally biased toward "To He#@ with the Rule of Thirds" as far as birds are concerned. Fill the frame as much as you can".

The River there is just to wide and they tend to fish midstream. So I guess I will continue to search out more narrow feeding spots or rely on ice cover to drive them to a predictable spot. Thanks!
