I'm still getting familiar with lenses and trying to figure out what lens you used. You had aperture 2.8 at 300mm zoom? Wow! That must be a great lens, mind sharing?

Most likely the Canon 300 f/2.8 prime. And yes, it's a great lens. :D
Love the reception series. Great shots.

I was at this game though I was simply freezing my sjhrbglz off. Great shots! I am not a Chiefs fan but merely a Yankee fan in waiting! Great sequence. I wish they'd let me in with my camera. I had 17th row 50 yd line seats!

I like the two portraits.
As far as the first three go, Id definitely crop MUCH tighter. Get rid of the zebra and the coach who looks like he couldnt care less. As fasr as the other two, I personally would have junked them. His eyes are closed in #2 and in both #2 and #3 it looks like hes just falling over (Not to mention the distracting background/foreground.
Ive taken a quite a few catches/shots/dunks that Ill at first think are cool because I saw it all happen, but then when I see the picture by itself, the person just looks a little funny to me so it never makes it past the garbage bin.

I couldn't disagree more... it appears that you have no understanding of football. The coach who looks like he couldn't care less is the Chief's Head Coach, Herm Edwards. He looks quite appropriate for a head coach... he is watching his receiver make a good catch on the sidelines. Would you expect him to be cheering like a drunken fan? This is business for him and he appears to have a good handle on his emotions.
As for the series, is it going to Sports Illustrated... I doubt it. Is it trash... no. I think that it is a good series because it captures quite clearly a great sideline catch. I think that the series demonstrates the talent of both the athlete and the photographer and the quality of the 1DMIII at ISO 1000 (with a great piece of glass).
His eyes are open in image 2 - he appears to be squinting... a very natuaral reaction when a ball is thrown at high speed at your head and you catch it inches in front of your eyes. You can't suppress the urge to squint or blink at that instant - it is a reflex & it lends context to the image.
Lastly, the zebra is certainly encroaching on the play in images 2 & 3, but that is part of the game. He doesn't ruin the detail of the photo and precision of the catch.

You lost any credibility with me after that. Just because I feel one way doesnt mean that Im clueless. I dont care if they dug up Jesus himself and stood him there...If he looks sleepy, its distracting to me and to a lot of other people.
Im not saying the pictures are junk...Im just saying I dont think there is anything special about them aside from the first one which would benefit from a tighter crop.

Superb set.
Reading the comments I went back and concluded how good they really are.Sure loosing a little off the left would have tightened them up. However, looking at the coach in the red cap, look at his eyes watching the feet of the WR to see if he completed the play, which from these pix would suggest yes he did.
Nice work.

All five are terrific but the catch sequence is outstanding. Great color and clarity.
