I live in the town of Eastchester, located in Westchester County NY, and am interested
if there are other digital camera enthusiasts in proximity to this area who are interested in meeting for coffee and Digital camera talk.

I've had quite a few digital point and shoot cameras, and am now using a Canon Digital Rebel XT which is a complete learning process if you'd like to really take better pictures.

My hobby is making photo slideshows with the help of my camera, adding music to them, then uploading them to youtube. I've got about 28 so far, and I'm always looking for an excuse to create more. Yes, I'm retired, and have plenty of time to devote to this great hobby I'm happily addicted to..

I don't like the effects that using the flash gives my photos, so I rarely use it. I do prefer to use existing light, so most of my shots are taken in "low light".....

The lens I use for the low light indoors is the Canon 50mm, 1.4 lens. I've never used a tripod since I'm never in the same spot twice when I'm taking the shots.

I'm enclosed a few of the shots I've just mentioned, and both were taken with the 1.4 lens I just mentioned. I guess I was about ten feet away from this great NYC Cabaret Broadway performer so, I kept shooting away. Again, never, ever use the flash, and I like it that way. Yes, I had to use an ISO of 1600, but although there's "noise", I find I really don't mind the "noise" when I've managed to "capture the moment" just right!.... Please tell what you think!...

From Chappaqua, a bit north central in the county. I just purchased the G9 aiming to have a camera with me for walks, bike rides and the travel I occasionally do. Easy-portable was my need and this camera looks to fit the bill. Right now I don't miss the SLR scene. It's been ions since I used my Nikon FE2, but loved that camera and this G9 is bringing back some of those memories and surprising me with brand new capabilities. I also had a Sony p-n-s, but the bells and whistles were very limited. And I'm brand new to post-production, neverever having used Photoshop (Elements) before.

So now I'm feeling like I'm starting from scratch. There's not much that I can share with anyone, but there's a lot I need to learn. Hardly a two-way street in conversation.

I did meet here another guy who lives in Westchester NY, so there are more of us.

I was just in Westchester County last night. I went to the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville to see a documentary. Nice little town.

I used to live in New Rochelle, neighboring Eastchester/Mt. Vernon/Larchmont/Mamaroneck, etc. Having moved to Florida last year (06/07), I'm no longer there.

As for the noise, download Noise-Ninja...and that'll help a fair amount...especially for high-ISO shots.

I live not 2 miles from that wonderful theater and been there countless times. I'm one lucky son-of-a-gun to have such source of wonderful films so nearby.

Come to think of it...I wonder what's playing this weekend?

Unfortunately...I can't say that they did or did not. Been living in Florida for a year now...sort of miss NY sometimes...but, this is our new home.
